The Story of Papery Pop
Papery Pop, the weird dinosaur of Pop-Rock music has its roots back
into the pre-internet era.
In 1978, it started in Switzerland, when Heinz Muller and
Marc Ledermann played 60's songs of the Beatles, T-Rex,
the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, CCR, the Animals and others. Music was their
fulfillment and while they were performing with their first band
The Live-Beathovens,
soon they began diligently to compose their own songs.
In 1982, shortly after the Live Beathoven's dissolving, Heinz and Marc founded the band Loosing Wind. With Jack they had found a suitable, talented Rock drummer for their exciting music. But at that time they never really succeeded in finding a matching bass player for that formation. When Jack left the band after just one year, Susan Adam introduced herself as the new, female drummer.
After some months tour in southern Germany, where they had been playing minor
concerts together with local musicians, in 1984 the 2 genuine musicians
Hansjorg Schupbach (bass) and Peter Heule (keyboards) joined
the band, what resultet in the new band name Miles Away. This year
and beyond the sound advanced to new horizons. Regrettably, Hansjorg and Peter
left the band 2 years later.
When the disappointment was overcome, the 3 remaining members formed the band Waterpox, with Marc playing the bass now. In 86/87 they recorded their first album Superhuman Love.
At the same time Marc produced the album Thunderstorm together with the 2 other members and Francis Zobler (keyboards) under the name Marc Ledermann and Ratsbane.
When Susan became pregnant, the band paused for a while and never joined again. But Marc and Heinz were still playing and composing songs themselves.
In 2008 Marc aimed to record an album to publish some of the numerous song
resources. Together with Chap, Jay, Finnley, Heinz and Avanna the album
Under the Yoke of Transiency was finished in Sweden.
The albums Dogged Man and Pagan Spires demanded a lot of
energy and patience, since obstacles retarded the production all the time.
Though the band has been satisfied with the result.
Hopefully there will be a lot of releases in the future (maybe also a
re-release of the first 2 albums)!
